A Norse god quiz based on archetypal reading, not religious belief

The idea of reading Norse gods as symbolic personality patterns present in varying degrees in every person, not as literal entities, follows the same Jungian archetypal reading we apply to the Greek gods: each figure in the pantheon (the Æsir and the Vanir) represents a set of values, instincts and ways of acting in the world that we all carry in different proportions. Odin is the hunger to know; Thor, the courage that protects; Loki, the cunning that transforms; Freyja, the passion that enchants.

The sources of Norse mythology are in the public domain, chiefly the Poetic Edda and the Prose Edda, compiled in the 13th century. This quiz reproduces no clinical instrument or protected text: it is an original, symbolic reading with 10 gods, designed for entertainment and self-reflection, not psychological diagnosis or religious practice.

How the result is calculated

The quiz measures 6 trait axes, Wisdom, Strength, Cunning, Passion, Honor and Mystery, through 10 questions per attempt: 1 multiple-choice scenario drawn for each of the 6 axes (from a pool of 6 scenarios per axis) and 4 "distribute 10 points" dilemmas drawn from a pool of 6.

Your 6-axis vector (normalized 0-100) is matched by Euclidean distance against each of the 10 gods, the same matching technique used by this site's DISC Quiz and Greek archetype quiz. The result shows your closest god along with the others that also show up strong in your profile.

All possible results

Odin, The Seeker

You are driven by a hunger to know that is never satisfied. You see the whole game while others see only the move, and you would not hesitate to pay a steep price for a truth no one else dares to chase. It is the archetype of deep knowledge fused with mystery, strategy, foresight, and a side almost no one reaches. The risk is sacrificing so much for wisdom (relationships, rest, your own comfort) that you lose yourself along the way and forget to live what you have already won.

Thor, The Protector

When danger shows up, you are the one who steps in front. Direct, loyal and plain-spoken, you prefer honest action to cold calculation and defend your own with a strength that needs no explanation. It is the archetype of physical courage in service of duty, the shield everyone trusts in a crisis. The catch is that this impulsive frankness can harden into stubbornness: not every problem is solved head-on, and sometimes a moment of strategy would spare the storm your blunt reaction ends up causing.

Loki, The Shapeshifter

You think fast, shift your shape to fit the audience, and find the exit where everyone else sees only a wall. Charm, irony and an unpredictable creativity make you impossible to read, and, for that very reason, hard to contain. It is the archetype of pure cunning and transformation, the one who rattles the rules and shows that almost anything could be otherwise. The shadow is familiar: the same wit that saves you can slip into manipulation, and people are never quite sure when they can actually trust you.

Freyja, The Enchantress

You feel the world through your skin: desire, beauty, attraction, all at high voltage. You enchant effortlessly and move naturally between love and whatever is magical and hidden in life. It is the archetype of passion fused with mystery, seduction, intuition and a bond with forces reason cannot explain. The challenge is that a life guided so strongly by feeling can turn into a rollercoaster: learning when to give your heart away and when to guard it is the lesson that gives you real power.

Týr, The Just

Your word is law, to yourself before anyone else. You do what is right even when it hurts, even when no one is watching, and you would accept a personal sacrifice to keep a pact standing. It is the archetype of honor and moral courage: justice, duty and a steadiness others use as an anchor. The risk is rigidity, a world split only into right and wrong leaves little room for forgiveness, and sometimes blind loyalty to principle costs more than bending a little would.

Heimdall, The Watchman

Nothing gets past you. You catch what others miss, read the mood of a room in seconds, and faithfully guard whatever is entrusted to you. Watchful cunning paired with an unshakable sense of duty makes you the sentinel everyone leans on. It is the archetype of loyal vigilance, perceptive, dependable, always a step ahead of the threat. The shadow is over-guarding: living permanently on alert can leave you tense and suspicious, and not every silence hides a danger that needs watching.

Baldur, The Radiant

You light up the rooms you walk into. Gentle, warm and moved by the beauty of things, you draw people in through a kindness that feels natural and sincere, without effort. It is the archetype of light and affection joined to integrity, love, harmony and the gift of making others feel better around you. The tender spot is vulnerability: being so beloved and well-meaning can leave you exposed to those who exploit it, and pleasing everyone sometimes costs the courage to disappoint when you must.

Hel, The Keeper of the Hidden

You do not fear what others avoid facing: the silence, the endings, the darker layers of existence. Introspective and enigmatic, you calmly hold an emotional weight that would frighten most, and you see a somber beauty where others see only fear. It is the archetype of absolute mystery, fate, symbolic death and a depth that commands respect without fanfare. The risk is isolation: diving too deep into your own inner world can push away the very people who would gladly go there with you.

Frigg, The Wise-Hearted

You unite what rarely goes together: a serene intelligence and a heart that loves deeply. You sense what is going on inside people before they say it, care for them quietly, and carry an intuition about where things are heading that rarely fails. It is the archetype of affectionate wisdom, knowledge in service of connection, not power. The shadow is the weight of knowing and staying silent: foreseeing what is coming and shielding everyone quietly can overload you, and holding it all alone is not always the wisest way to care.

Skadi, The Untamed of Winter

You are made of mountain and cold: strong, independent and more at home in wild solitude than in the warmth of crowds. You pursue what you want with the firmness of someone facing a blizzard without flinching, and you carry a reserved aura few can decode. It is the archetype of strength fused with mystery, endurance, self-reliance and a deep bond with what is wild and silent. The challenge is lowering your guard: the armor that protects you so well can also freeze the closeness that, deep down, you want too.
