dummy pdf for upload testing
Pick PDF, set the size and the page count in Format options, and download. The file opens in any reader, shows the text Dummy test file and the page numbering, and ends at exactly the requested byte.
Starts with 25 50 44 46 2D, which is %PDF-.
Three A4 pages and the rest as padding.
The size where the /Length field gains a digit; closed with the extra line breaks.
The tool shows the minimum and offers to use it.
1 MB is 1,000,000 bytes and 1 MiB is 1,048,576 bytes, a 4.86% difference. The same goes for KB (1,000) and KiB (1,024), GB (1,000,000,000) and GiB (1,073,741,824). NIST notes that memory makers often use megabyte for 1,048,576 bytes and storage makers for 1,000,000, so the tool shows the size in both systems and lets you pick the unit.
It does: it is a PDF 1.4 with a consistent xref, and the pdf-lib library loads it in the tool automated tests with the right page count.
From 1 to 500. Each page adds about 385 bytes, so 500 pages require a minimum size of roughly 197 KB.
Only if the system is yours or you are authorized. The file holds no real data, but an upload to production can trigger alerts, take up storage and create records.
1,000,000 B · 1 MB · 976.56 KiB
1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes (decimal). 1 MiB = 1,048,576 bytes (binary).
With a seed, random data, noise and CSV/JSON rows come out identical on every run.
Test files contain no real data. Use them only to test systems that are yours or that you are authorized to test.
