Minecraft Pixel Art Generator: Image to Blocks with Materials List and Guide
Upload an image and see it as Minecraft blocks, using the real average color of the textures. You get the materials list in stacks and shulker boxes, a printable layer-by-layer guide and the plan as a PNG.
An image becomes a build you can actually make: with the real block colors and a count of everything left to gather.
Every pixel of the image is swapped for the block whose average color is closest. Those colors were not picked by eye: they are the average of the pixels of the game's own textures (Java Edition 26.1), the same 336 colors used by this site's block palette tool. The comparison runs in OKLab, a color space where numeric distance follows the difference the eye perceives. In RGB, two different greens can look farther apart than a green and a gray; in OKLab that does not happen.
Size goes from 1 to 128 blocks per side, 16,384 blocks at most. The cap exists because a build larger than that no longer fits comfortably on screen, in the printed guide or in the patience of whoever builds it. With Keep proportion the height follows the image; with Crop to center you set width and height and the image is cropped without distortion. Downscaling uses area averaging, so thin edges do not vanish the way they do with sampling. Transparent pixels stay empty and are left out of the count.
The block set decides the look. Concrete and wool give flat colors; terracotta gives earthy tones; All opens up about 250 options. Survival-friendly keeps common blocks you can craft or gather in bulk, without ores, Nether, End, copper (which oxidizes) or blocks you only get with Silk Touch. On a wall, sand, red sand and gravel are dropped because they fall; concrete powder is never used for the same reason. Dithering spreads the color error across neighbors and helps with gradients, at the cost of a grainy look up close.
After the conversion come the three outputs that matter to a builder. The materials list gives, per block, the count, the stacks of 64 plus the remainder, and how many shulker boxes (27 slots) and double chests (54 slots) you need. The layer guide gives, for each row of the build, runs such as 4 × Lime Concrete in columns 1 to 4, and can be printed. The PNG plan has the numbered grid, each block's number inside its cell, heavier lines every 16 blocks and the legend.
How to use
Pick the image, the size and the block set; then take the list and the guide into the game.
Drop an image on the dashed area, tap to choose a file or paste with Ctrl+V. Without an image, the tool shows a sample landscape already converted.
Set the width in blocks, choose All, Wool, Concrete, Terracotta or Survival-friendly, say whether the build goes on the floor or a wall and turn dithering on if the image has gradients. Tap a block in the list to highlight it, or the × to stop using it.
Check the totals, follow the layer guide on screen or print it. The plan PNG and a CSV of the materials list can be downloaded too.

128 × 128 blocks, which is 16,384 blocks. That limit is ours, chosen so the conversion, the preview and the printed guide stay fast and readable on a phone. The uploaded image can be much larger: it is scaled down to the build size by area averaging.
Drop an image here, tap to choose one or paste with Ctrl+VPNG, JPG, WebP or GIF, up to 20 MB. The image never leaves your browser.

Width (blocks)
Height (blocks)
Up to 128 × 128 blocks (16,384 blocks at most). The conversion runs in short steps, so the page does not freeze.
Blocks to use
Every full-cube block in the catalog. Ores, functional blocks, live coral, glazed terracotta and concrete powder are never used.
Where it goes
Seen from the front, not mirrored. Row 1 is the bottom one, because you build a wall from the bottom up. Sand and gravel are left out since they fall.
Build of 48 × 32 blocks: 1,536 blocks, 16 full stacks and 2 shulker boxes to carry it all.

All of these blocks stack to 64. A partial stack still takes a whole slot, which is why shulker boxes are counted by slots, not by the total number of blocks.

Row 1 is the bottom one. Read left to right, standing in front of the wall. The row is marked on the image.

The image is read and converted in your browser and is never uploaded. There is no map art mode: it uses its own palette of map colors, which this tool does not claim to reproduce.
