View and strip EXIF metadata, GPS, camera, date, from photos before sharing, with no upload and no re-compression.
Photos taken by phones and cameras carry EXIF metadata: date and time, device model, camera settings (aperture, ISO, shutter speed), orientation, the body and lens serial numbers and often the exact GPS coordinates of where the photo was taken. That data is recorded inside the file itself, in marker blocks invisible in the image but readable by any program. When you share the photo, all of it goes with it, and it can reveal your home, your workplace and your routine. This tool first reads and shows the fields that are present, including decoded latitude and longitude (with a map link) and a warning when a serial number is embedded. Removal is done by byte surgery: the metadata blocks (APP1/Exif, XMP, APP13/IPTC and comments in JPG; tEXt/zTXt/iTXt/eXIf in PNG; EXIF/XMP in WebP) are deleted and the rest of the file, including the compressed image data, is copied byte for byte. The result has exactly the same pixels as the original: nothing is re-compressed, nothing loses quality. Everything happens locally, with no photo sent to a server.
Reading happens directly in the browser: the tool parses the file's blocks and walks the Exif and GPS sub-tables, decoding latitude and longitude (which EXIF stores as degree/minute/second fractions) into decimal coordinates. That is why the location warning can show you the exact point on a map before you download anything.
Removal re-encodes nothing. In JPG, metadata lives in marker segments (APP1, APP2, APP13, COM) that sit beside the compressed image data; you simply rewrite the file without them and copy the rest verbatim. In PNG, every chunk carries its own CRC, so dropping a text chunk requires no recomputation. In WebP, the EXIF and XMP chunks leave the RIFF container and the matching VP8X header bits are cleared. The output decodes to exactly the same pixels as the original.
Example 1, phone photo: a JPG shot outdoors usually carries the device make and model, date/time, the body serial number and GPS coordinates accurate to a few meters. After passing through the tool, the panel shows the "0 fields remain" verification and the downloaded file no longer reveals where, when or with which camera the photo was taken, while keeping the exact same pixels.
Example 2, a PNG exported by an editor: PNGs rarely carry EXIF, but they almost always carry text chunks (tEXt/iTXt) naming the software used, and they can carry an eXIf chunk with GPS. This tool actually inspects those chunks instead of assuming "PNGs have no metadata", and removes them without re-compressing the image.
Strip EXIF whenever you publish photos to social media, forums, marketplaces or send them to strangers, it is the simplest way to avoid leaking your location. Many platforms strip metadata on upload, but not all, and you don't control that behavior; cleaning beforehand guarantees the outcome.
Two honest limits: the tool removes metadata, not visible content, if your address appears on a sign inside the photo, it stays there. And for formats we cannot inspect byte-wise (BMP, TIFF, HEIC) the tool plainly says "could not read metadata for this format" rather than claiming the file is clean; in those cases cleaning falls back to re-encoding, which is labelled as such.
Paste the code into your HTML and the tool shows up on your page, without J-Kit's navigation and ads. It still runs in the browser of whoever visits your site.
