Saturn moves out to 2° Aries, backs up to 25° Pisces and closes the window in January.
how long does saturn return last
The question has two answers: the instant Saturn crosses your degree (one day) and the period when it stays close enough for astrology to count (months to over a year). This page shows the real numbers.
Saturn moves out to 2° Aries, backs up to 25° Pisces and closes the window in January.
The 5° orb catches the stretch before the pass and the whole backtrack.
A single pass, but Saturn moves in and out of the orb for over a year and a half.
The first two sit 18 days apart, near the retrograde station of Saturn.
Saturn has a 29.46-year period, so the first return is near age 29 and a half. In the exact passes computed for birth dates from 1930 to 2000, the age ranged from about 28.4 to 30.4. The second return falls near 59 and the third near 88.
In the calculations here, with a 3 degree orb, the window exceeded 1.5 years only in the slowest cases. Ideas of two to three years come from larger orbs or from adding the periods before and after. Pick an orb from 1 to 5 degrees in the tool and compare.
Because in about a third of cases the return has three exact passes, and many sites show only the first. All three belong to the same return and appear together on the card.
By hours, in most cases. With an unknown time the tool uses noon and warns when a pass could vary by more than a day and a half, which only happens near the stations.
The date alone is enough: Saturn moves about 0.03 degrees a day on average. The time is only used together with a city, to find the house natal Saturn sits in.
The window runs from when Saturn gets this close to your natal degree until it moves away again. Smaller orbs give shorter windows.

Readings come from Western astrological tradition and are symbolic: the calendar marks the period, not what will happen. Planet positions are astronomical calculation. All calculation happens in your browser. Date, time and city are never sent to a server.
