Index 01 = 100, letter C = × 100: 10,000 Ω.
eia-96 resistor code 01c
EIA-96 marking is not read like the others: the two digits are not the value, and the letter is not the end of an abbreviation. They point to a value in a 96-entry table and to a multiplier. This page opens the tool on 01C, which is 10 kΩ, and the Tables tab lists all 96 indexes and the nine letters so you can check any 1% code.
Index 01 = 100, letter C = × 100: 10,000 Ω.
Index 10 = 124, × 100: 12,400 Ω.
Index 96 = 976, × 100: 97,600 Ω.
Index 01 = 100, letter Y = × 0.01: 1 Ω.
Index 66 = 475, letter X = × 0.1: 47.5 Ω.
Index 25 = 178, × 100: 17,800 Ω.
It means 10 kΩ. The first two digits (10) are the value and the third (3) is the power of ten: 10 × 10³ = 10,000 Ω. It is not 103 ohms.
Index 01 is 100 in the E96 table and the letter C multiplies by 100: 100 × 100 = 10,000 Ω, or 10 kΩ. It is a 1% part.
Z = × 0.001; Y or R = × 0.01; X or S = × 0.1; A = × 1; B or H = × 10; C = × 100; D = × 1,000; E = × 10,000; F = × 100,000.
To fit three significant figures into three characters. The two digits point to the value in the 96-entry list, which already carries the three figures, and the letter gives the power of ten.
No. EIA-96 is common on small 1% parts, but many manufacturers use the 4-digit code (1002) or leave the body unmarked. Check the component's datasheet.
No exact one: 4.7 kΩ is not in E96. The neighbors are 4.64 kΩ and 4.75 kΩ, and the latter is 66B (index 66 = 475, B = × 10).
