The History topic bundles 60 questions about world events, treaties and figures, split into 20 easy, 20 medium and 20 hard, leaving Brazilian history for its own dedicated bank in the same game. None of the dates used are the kind two historians would actually argue about.

How difficulty splits up the dates in History

  • In the 20 easy questions, the answer is a milestone most people have heard of, like the 1939 to 1945 span of World War II. In the 20 medium ones, the question already asks for the starting year of a specific process, the case of the French Revolution beginning in 1789. The 20 hard ones bring in less popular treaties, like the Treaty of Versailles, signed in 1919 to formally end World War I.
  • The classic history-trivia trap is asking "in what year" for an event that actually lasted years or decades, like the Thirty Years' War, which ran from 1618 to 1648, covering nearly half of the 17th century. Asking only for the year of a conflict like that leaves room for more than one defensible answer. That is why the bank favors dates with one documented milestone, like the signing of a specific treaty, over the start or end of a long process.
  • Alternating the three difficulty tiers makes a History round more interesting than running a block of easy questions followed by a block of hard ones: with rounds configurable at 10, 20 or 30 questions, a run of 5 or more easy questions in a row leaves the score artificially even, and a block of only hard ones tends to stall the game around a single history buff on one team.
