Each civilization has its own rules: syllable patterns, allowed consonants, apostrophe use, and vowel harmony. This creates names recognizable as belonging to that race.
Generate extraterrestrial names with unique phonologies, 5 distinct alien civilizations.
This tool creates extraterrestrial names based on genuinely different phonological systems: the Zyr'Athi favor sibilants and apostrophes marking breathing pauses; the Vek'Tar are aggressive and consonant-heavy; the K'thon mix guttural vocalizations with clicks; the Xalis have fluid, undulating sounds; the Nuur have long melodic names with vowel harmony. Rather than scattering odd consonants at random, the generator assembles each name from starts, cores, and endings specific to each civilization, so results read as belonging to that race instead of sounding generic. Each name comes with a civilization description to contextualize its use. Use them for characters, whole species, planets, and ships in science fiction, RPGs, and original-universe worldbuilding.
Rather than scattering odd consonants at random, the generator gives each civilization its own set of sounds. The Vek'Tar are crystalline: hard starts (Xk-, Vg-, Zt-) and almost no vowels. The Xalis are aquatic: open diphthongs (Ae-, Io-) and liquid consonants (l, n, m, r) that make the name flow.
The Zyr'Athi breathe: sibilants (Zh-, Sh-) and apostrophes that mark pauses. The K'thon mix insect clicks with Lovecraftian cosmic horror, full of apostrophes. The Nuur are long and melodic, with vowel harmony across the syllables.
Compare 'Vg'Kthorn' and 'Aelirion'. The first is a Vek'Tar: mineral and aggressive, good for a warrior race or an inorganic intelligence. The second is a Xalis: flowing and almost elvish, suited to a diplomatic or aquatic species.
In 'All' mode, each name carries the civilization label just below it, so you know which phonology it belongs to. Pick by the tone you want to convey, and keep the same civilization for every member of a species to give the set coherence.
The same patterns work for alien toponyms: name planets, moons, star systems, ships, and artifacts with the phonology of the civilization that built them. That ties the worldbuilding together, a reader senses that 'Xk'Zthar' and 'Vg'Tarn' come from the same people.
Because the names are invented, check availability before using one as a username or project name, and adjust the spelling (dropping apostrophes, for example) if you need something easier to type.
