Create names for spells, enchantments, and rituals for RPG, fiction, and worldbuilding.
A good spell name needs to sound powerful, memorable, and coherent with the magic system. This tool uses four styles: Invocation (an evocative verb like 'Conjure' or 'Awaken' followed by element and effect), Compound (an element fused to an effect, like 'Ice Tempest'), Ritual (a ritual noun plus a qualifier, 'Litany of Seven Knells'), and Archaic (Latin and Greek roots tied to the element, Ignis, Glacies, Fulmen, for ancient-language weight). Each name comes with a brief description of the expected effect. Use them for spells and rituals in RPGs, original magic systems, digital games, or fantasy fiction.
A convincing magic name usually joins an element to an effect. The generator crosses a list of elements (Fire, Frost, Shadow, Void, Soul, Time) with effect verbs and nouns, offensive like Bolt and Nova, defensive like Ward and Aegis, control like Bind and Snare. That's how 'Ice Tempest' or 'Shadow Seal' is born.
The archaic style swaps the vernacular for Latin and Greek roots tied to each element: Ignis (fire), Glacies (ice), Fulmen (lightning), Umbra (shadow), Mors (death). Those roots give ancient-language weight without being a literal translation.
'Conjure the Abyss' is an invocation: a strong verb up front, great for a caster's dramatic magic. 'Ignis Mortis' is archaic: two Latin roots that sound like a forbidden grimoire incantation.
Choose the style by school of magic and tone. Fire spells can follow a single sound pattern for coherence, if they all use a Latin root, the whole system gains unity.
The shown effect descriptions are seeds: adapt the actual effect to your system (damage, range, duration, saving throw). Generate in 'All' mode and manually pick the names that fit together to assemble a cohesive spell list.
The names are free of intellectual properties and can populate original magic systems, digital games, or fiction. Adjust spelling and language to the aesthetic you want.
