In the example chart, the Sun MC moves from 83.4 degrees west to about 84.4 degrees west.
astrocartography without birth time
The tool asks for the time because it is the minutes that position the lines. Without it, instead of guessing an hour, the map shows the sky right now. Below, the real size of the error for each time difference.
In the example chart, the Sun MC moves from 83.4 degrees west to about 84.4 degrees west.
At 60 degrees of latitude the same degree is 55.6 km.
15 degrees of longitude times 111.2 km per degree.
Distance to the meridian, which shrinks with the cosine of the latitude.
It is an astrological technique that shows on a world map where each body of your natal chart stood at an angle (rising, setting, overhead or at the lowest point) at the moment you were born. It was developed by astrologers between about 1930 and 1960 and popularized by Jim Lewis in the 1970s and 1980s. Each body gives four lines, so the Sun to Pluto plus the North Node make 44 lines.
It is not recommended. Noon is just a guess: if the person was born at 6 am, the error is 6 hours, or 90 degrees of longitude. The tool avoids that and asks for the exact time before drawing the birth map.
Yes. Local time is converted to UTC using the birth city time zone, including historical daylight saving rules such as the Brazilian one abolished in 2019. If the birthplace is wrong, the time zone and the latitude are wrong too.
Very little. The lines depend on the UTC instant of birth, and the city only matters to find the time zone and to mark the birth point on the map. Swapping one city for another in the same time zone does not move any line.
The exact time is essential here: the rising sign changes every two hours on average.
Without a birth date and time, the map shows the lines of the sky at this moment. The exact time is what positions the lines.
Lines of the sky right now
Date, time and city stay in your browser and are never sent to a server. Astrocartography is a symbolic astrological technique with no scientific support. Planet positions are real astronomical calculation; what the lines mean is tradition, not prediction.
