Brazil's ISPB and bank codes explained
Every bank, digital bank and payment institution in Brazil carries two different identifiers, the ISPB and the COMPE code, which serve distinct systems and do not always coexist on the same participant. This page explains the difference between them and where the lookup's underlying data comes from, before you search an institution in the tool.
Banks with a history in the check clearing system carry a 3-digit COMPE code besides the ISPB; 341 is one of the country's most recognized codes.
Even digitally-native payment institutions can have a COMPE code when they take part in systems that still rely on it; the ISPB, however, is the mandatory identifier for all of them.
