Counting characters seems trivial until an emoji enters the text: the same string can produce different numbers depending on whether the counter looks at a code unit, a Unicode code point, or the symbol the person actually sees on screen.
The thumbs-up and the tone modifier each fall inside the range the tool recognizes as an emoji, which is why the "emojis" field also shows 2 for a symbol the person reads as just one.
At 17 words against 225 per minute the raw calculation would be under 1 minute, but the minimum floor rounds any non-empty text up to at least "1 min".

It depends on the emoji and the counting method: a simple supplementary-plane emoji already counts as 2 UTF-16 units but 1 code point, and a composite emoji with a skin-tone modifier or a family sequence can reach 4 UTF-16 units and still appear as just 1 symbol on screen.
Because not every counter measures the same thing: some use UTF-16 code units (what this tool calls "characters"), others use Unicode code points, and others use perceived grapheme clusters; the same sentence with an emoji can produce three different numbers, all "correct" for the definition they use.
