A semester with 3 courses
- Input
- Cálculo I: nota 7.5, peso 4; Programação I: nota 9.0, peso 4; Redação Científica: nota 6.0, peso 2
- Expected output
- CR = 7.8
(7.5x4 + 9.0x4 + 6.0x2) / (4+4+2) = 78 / 10 = 7.8.
how Brazilian university CR grade average works
This preset opens the calculator already in Brazilian (CR) mode, ready for you to enter 0-10 grades and each course weight.
(7.5x4 + 9.0x4 + 6.0x2) / (4+4+2) = 78 / 10 = 7.8.
With equal weights, CR matches the plain arithmetic average: (8+7+9)/3 = 8.0.
CR 8.5 / 2.5 = 3.4. It is a reference estimate, not an official equivalence: each credential evaluator can use a different divisor or table.
GPA (Grade Point Average) is the weighted average of each letter grade's points by course credits: GPA = sum(points x credits) / sum(credits). The standard scale runs from 0 (F) to 4.0 (A or A+).
CR stands for Coeficiente de Rendimento, the number that summarizes a student academic performance across the program, calculated as the grade average weighted by each course weight.
There is no official conversion. The most common convention, used by several credential evaluators, divides the CR by 2.5, but American universities, scholarship programs and different agencies can apply their own tables, so treat the result as an estimate before confirming it with the destination institution.
Only when every course has the same weight. In most programs weights vary by credits or class hours, so CR usually differs from the plain average.
At many universities, yes, CR is commonly one of the ranking criteria in teaching-assistantship, scholarship and exchange-program applications, but the exact cutoff varies by edital and institution.
