Minecraft Banner Patterns
A Minecraft banner is a stack of layers drawn over a colored backdrop, each layer carrying its own geometric pattern and its own color. The order layers are applied in matters just as much as which patterns get picked, because each one covers part of the one beneath it.
The component lists layers in the same order they were stacked, each with the pattern's full id and color name, the format required from 1.20.5 onward.
The same design turns into short codes (`cr`, `bo`) and numeric indices (red=14, black=15), valid on versions from 1.13 through 1.20.4.
With no pattern layers, the command falls back to a plain banner item in the base color, identical in both formats because there is no pattern data to serialize.
A banner supports up to six pattern layers in addition to the base color, matching what the game allows you to combine at the loom. The tool respects this limit and blocks adding new layers once it is reached.
