A numeric expression is always solved in the same order. Groups first: what is inside parentheses ( ), then brackets [ ], then braces { }, from the innermost group outward. Inside each group, and outside them, the order is powers and roots; then multiplications and divisions, in the order they appear, left to right; and last additions and subtractions, also left to right. So 10 + 2 × 3 is 16, not 36, and 20 ÷ 4 × 5 is 25, not 1. This is the same result as PEMDAS or BODMAS, which only name the steps differently. In {[(8 − 3) × 2 + 2²] ÷ 7} + 3 the tool solves (8 − 3) = 5, then the power 2² = 4, then 5 × 2 = 10, then 10 + 4 = 14, then 14 ÷ 7 = 2 and finally 2 + 3 = 5. Independent operations of the same phase move together in one step, while a chain like 20 ÷ 4 × 5 moves one operation at a time. The math uses exact fractions: 0.1 + 0.2 is exactly 0.3, and 1/2 + 1/3 shows the LCM (6) before adding and ends at 5/6. Signs follow the sign rules: 5 − (−3) becomes 5 + 3, and −3² is −9 while (−3)² is 9. Exact roots (√81 = 9) come out as whole numbers; inexact ones become approximate values with 12 places, marked with ≈.
