It is important to understand the tool's limits: it does not create a Pix key, does not register anything with the Central Bank or any financial institution, and does not verify whether the key you entered is real, active, or actually belongs to you. It only takes the data you type, follows the exact same field, length and checksum rules a bank would use, and produces the matching text and QR code. All processing happens in your browser; the key, name, city and amount you enter are never sent to a server. This is the right tool for anyone who already has a registered Pix key and wants to quickly generate a static charge QR code, for example to put on a menu, a poster or a website.
The "Pix copia e cola" text is a sequence of fields in TLV (Tag-Length-Value) format: each field starts with a 2-digit id, followed by a 2-digit length and then the value itself. Field 00 marks the payload format indicator, field 26 carries the recipient's merchant account information (the fixed GUI br.gov.bcb.pix, the Pix key and an optional description in nested subfields), fields 52, 53 and 58 carry the merchant category code, the currency (986, Brazilian real) and the country (BR), fields 59 and 60 carry the recipient's name and city, and field 62 carries the transaction reference (txid) in a subfield.
The final field, 63, is the integrity check: a CRC-16/CCITT-FALSE checksum (polynomial 0x1021, initial value 0xFFFF, no reflection) computed over the entire payload assembled so far, including the literal characters "6304" of the CRC field itself. Any typo or assembly error changes the checksum, which is how payment apps detect a corrupted copy-and-paste code before even attempting to process the payment.
The Central Bank of Brazil allows five Pix key formats, and each has an exact shape inside the payload. A CPF key is embedded as 11 digits with no punctuation; a CNPJ key is embedded as 14 characters, which since 2026 can be partially or fully alphanumeric under the Federal Revenue's new format. An email key is embedded in lowercase, in the standard [email protected] shape. A phone key must be in E.164 international format, with the +55 prefix followed by area code and number, no spaces or dashes.
The random key (also called EVP, Virtual Payment Address) is generated by the Central Bank itself when the user does not want to tie Pix to a piece of personal data; it is always 32 hexadecimal characters, usually displayed in UUID shape (with hyphens). This tool only validates the format of each key type, never whether it is actually registered and active: that confirmation is only possible inside the Central Bank's system or a Pix participant institution.
Because it is entirely client-side, this tool never sends the key, name, city or amount to a server, and keeps nothing once the page is closed. Still, it is essential to understand that generating a Pix QR code does not create, register or validate the key with the Central Bank: it needs to already exist and be active at your financial institution before you publish the code, or payments will fail.
The reference field (txid) uses the "***" convention when left blank, the Central Bank's standard way to signal that the QR code has no specific transaction reference, typical of reusable static codes (unlike a dynamic QR code generated by a payment provider, which carries a unique txid per charge). Always test the generated QR code with your own bank's app before using it publicly.
