convert m4a to mp3
Drag the .m4a files into the drop area. MP3 is selected by default at 192 kbps; title, artist and album from the original are copied. Each item shows the codec, sample rate and length read from the header.
256,000 ÷ 8 × 180 bytes.
Smaller, with second-generation loss.
Same size as the M4A.
12,000 bytes per second × 600 s.
Fits the 30-minute limit.
Input is whatever your browser can decode: MP3, WAV, OGG, OPUS, FLAC, M4A, AAC and WEBM audio, plus the audio track of MP4 and WEBM videos. Output is MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG Opus and M4A (AAC). The last two depend on the browser's encoder, and the screen tells you when one is missing.
Almost. AAC is the codec, M4A is the MPEG-4 container that usually holds it. Some M4A files use ALAC, Apple lossless codec, and the tool only opens those if the browser can decode it.
Because the information AAC discarded is gone. Converting only repackages what is left, with another round of compression. The reason to convert is compatibility, not quality.
No. Title, artist, album and year are copied. The cover image is left out, and you can add it later in a tag editor.
MP3 is written at a constant bitrate (CBR), the same across the whole file.
Conversion happens in your browser. No file is sent to a server.
