Drop the photo into the tool and the cutout happens in this tab. The internet is only involved at the start, to download the model and the engine that runs it; the image itself is not sent anywhere.

Runs on the CPU, uses about 2.5 GB of memory.
Comes from jsDelivr and is normally kept in the browser cache.
Processed in memory, in the Web Worker.
No. The photo is read and processed in your browser, inside a Web Worker. The internet is only used to download the cutout model (from Hugging Face) and the ONNX Runtime engine (from jsDelivr), once each. You can verify it in your browser's Network tab: after the model files are downloaded, no request carries your image.
Open the browser Network tab (F12) and process an image: after the model download, no request with the photo content appears. The code runs locally and the tool works inside an iframe with no cookies or login.
The first time, yes, to download the model and the engine. After that the model is stored on the device. The engine comes from a CDN and is normally kept in the browser cache, but that depends on the browser, so we do not promise fully offline use.
Yes. The "Delete downloaded models" button removes the files from the site storage. Clearing the site data in the browser settings does the same.
Your photo never leaves your device. The cutout runs here, in your browser. Only the model (and the engine that runs it) is downloaded, once; no image is sent to any server.
MODNet, built for people and portraits. Small and quick; weaker on products, animals and objects.
All processing happens in your browser. The only things fetched from the internet are the cutout model (Hugging Face) and the ONNX Runtime inference engine (jsDelivr), downloaded once and checked by size and SHA-256. Your photos are never uploaded.
