The FIPE table is the most widely used reference in Brazil for valuing a used vehicle. It shows up in buying and selling, insurance, financing, asset valuation, probate and private negotiation. This tool works as a cascading lookup: you pick the vehicle type (car, motorcycle or truck), then the make, the model and the year, and you get the FIPE value together with the FIPE code, the reference month, the fuel and the model year. Even so, many people treat the FIPE value as if it were a mandatory or exact price, when in practice it works as a market average. This section clarifies what the FIPE table represents, why its value changes from one month to the next and how to read it alongside the real condition of the vehicle, without amounting to advice about the purchase.
The search follows four chained levels. First the vehicle type separates cars, motorcycles and trucks, because the same make can have different lines in each category. Then come the make and the model, and finally the model year, which usually also carries the fuel in its description. Only when all four are set does the tool fetch the value, because the FIPE price always exists for a specific version rather than for a generic vehicle name.
Each value is always tied to a reference month, the table's period. The same car can carry a different value from one month to the next, so the reference month is inseparable from the price. Alongside the value you get the FIPE code, a six-digit identifier plus a check digit (000000-0) that points to that exact version and avoids ambiguity between similar models, years and trims.
The FIPE table is compiled by the Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Econômicas from observed market prices for each vehicle version over a period. The result is a reference average, updated monthly, not a table of official prices nor the exact value of a specific unit. That is why it works as a comparable benchmark but does not decide how much a concrete car will cost.
The real sale price can land above or below FIPE due to condition, mileage, trim, options, service history, region, urgency of the sale and local supply. Insurers, banks and public bodies may apply their own criteria on top of FIPE, so the value shown here is informational and is not advice on buying, selling or valuation.
The data in this tool comes from the FIPE table, accessed through a public API that mirrors the official FIPE tables. The lookup is live: on each selection our server forwards make, model and year to the source and returns the most recent value available, always with the stated reference month.
Because the value is an average, it should not be treated as a closed price. Use it as a starting point for negotiation, record the reference month when you need to document the lookup, and complement it with an assessment of the vehicle's real condition.
