This tool uses the Web Speech API (`speechSynthesis`), the speech synthesis engine already built into the browser, so no text you type or paste here ever leaves your computer: the text-to-audio conversion happens locally, using whichever voices your operating system or browser already has installed. The voice list is grouped by language and shows whether each voice runs locally or depends on an internet connection, a detail most online readers hide from you. Long text is automatically sliced into chunks that respect the end of each sentence (never cutting a word in half), the real failure mode that makes competing tools hang or truncate once the text passes a few thousand characters. While reading, the current sentence (and, when the browser supports it, the exact word) being spoken is highlighted on screen and scrolling follows along on its own, and a built-in pronunciation dictionary fixes how acronyms and technical terms are spoken, saved in your browser for future visits.

1. Paste or type the text in the box (text pasted from a PDF or Word is cleaned up automatically, joining broken hyphenation and stripping stray line breaks). Choose a voice from the list, grouped by language, with a search field to find one quickly.
2. Adjust rate, pitch and volume, use the preview button to hear a sample before reading the whole text. If a term (an acronym, a technical name) is being mispronounced, add it to the pronunciation dictionary.
3. Tap play: the current sentence is highlighted, scrolling follows along on its own, and the next/previous sentence buttons let you jump around without losing your place. Pause, resume, or stop at any time.
