Sao Paulo mobile
- Input
- (11) 91234-5678
- Expected output
- https://wa.me/5511912345678
Typing 011 91234 5678 or +55 11 91234-5678 also works: the result is the same.
WhatsApp link without saving the contact
The wa.me link opens the chat directly with the given number, whether it is in the address book or not. The only care needed is writing the number in international format, which is where most links go wrong. Type the number your way and the tool adjusts it.
Typing 011 91234 5678 or +55 11 91234-5678 also works: the result is the same.
The +351 country code is added. If you type +351 912 345 678, the country selector switches by itself.
Country code 1 plus 10 digits. The same +1 applies to Canada.
The local dialing zero is dropped and country code 44 goes in.
Build https://wa.me/ plus the number with country and area code, then ?text= and the URL-encoded message. Here you type the number and the text and the link comes out ready, with line breaks, accents and emojis already encoded. Whoever clicks opens the chat with the message written, needing only to tap send.
Because the link works for anyone anywhere in the world. Without the country code WhatsApp cannot know which country the number is from. In Brazil, 55 comes before the area code.
In Brazil mobile numbers moved to 9 digits, with a leading 9, in a gradual process starting in 2012. The tool detects a mobile without the 9 after the area code and offers a button to fix the number.
Only if you send a message. Opening the link just opens an empty chat on your device; nothing is sent until you tap send.
Enter the number with its country code (or leave it blank and write only a message to create a share link that opens the contact list). The link appears here, ready to copy, test and turn into a QR code.
Links you copy or test show up here.
Everything happens in your browser: numbers, messages and lists never leave your device, and nothing is stored on a server. The optional history stays in local storage only.
