This tool generates bibliographic references under Brazil's ABNT NBR 6023 standard, published by ABNT (Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas), the format required in most Brazilian academic papers, capstones, dissertations and theses. It is not APA, not MLA, not Chicago and not Vancouver. If you need one of those instead, look for a citation generator built specifically for that standard. The tool fills in a reference field by field for six source types (book, book chapter, journal article, website, thesis/dissertation/capstone and video), applying the NBR 6023 author rule (surname in capitals, up to three authors separated by semicolons, four or more authors shortened to "et al.") and the exact punctuation each source type requires, producing text ready to paste into a Brazilian-style reference list.
