Generally an ordinary working day: Monday to Friday that is not a holiday. The definition changes by context (bank, contract, court case), so the tool lets you set the week and the holidays.
Count business days between two dates, add or subtract business days from a date, and see the year calendar, with Brazilian national, state and custom holidays.
In everyday language a business day is an ordinary working day: Monday to Friday, minus holidays. Saturdays and Sundays are out, and so is a holiday that falls on a weekday. The arithmetic looks simple, but each context changes a detail: banks use their own banking business days, labor law treats Saturday specially for the weekly rest (Lei 605/1949), and Brazil's Code of Civil Procedure, article 219, counts procedural deadlines in business days only. That is why this tool lets you pick the work week (Monday to Friday, Monday to Saturday or individual days) and the holidays that apply to you. National holidays are calculated, not typed in. The fixed ones are January 1, April 21 (Tiradentes), May 1, September 7, October 12, November 2, November 15, December 25 and, since 2024 (Lei 14.759/2023), November 20, Black Awareness Day. The movable ones depend on Easter, computed with the Meeus/Butcher algorithm: Good Friday falls 2 days before Easter and is a national holiday. Carnival (Tuesday, 47 days before Easter) and Corpus Christi (60 days after) are optional days off, and Ash Wednesday usually has offices opening at 2 pm. Each one can be switched on or off. In the "between dates" mode you choose whether the first and last days count. Spreadsheets (NETWORKDAYS) count both; legal deadlines, as a rule, exclude the starting day and include the due day (CPC, art. 224). In the "add" mode the start date never counts: business day 1 is the first one after it. The result lists the holidays that fell on working days and were removed, so you can check each one. For 2026, with national holidays, the year has 252 business days (261 weekdays minus 9 holidays that fall on weekdays). If you also treat Carnival Monday and Tuesday, Ash Wednesday and Corpus Christi as days off, the total drops to 248. The "year calendar" mode shows the month-by-month table, the nth business day of each month (widely used for the 5th business day of salary and bill payments) and a clickable calendar. State holidays are included only when state law fixes the date. City holidays vary from town to town and are not guessed: add yours, with yearly repetition, and they stay saved in this browser and in the shareable link. For court or contract deadlines, always check the court's or the contract's own calendar.
Paste the code into your HTML and the tool shows up on your page, without J-Kit's navigation and ads. It still runs in the browser of whoever visits your site.

Only fixed dates set by state law. City holidays and movable state holidays are not included: add your own below. Some states (ES, GO, MG, PR, SC) have no fixed-date weekday state holiday to include.
City anniversary, patron saint, company shutdown. Turn on "Every year" to repeat on the same date.
The list is saved in this browser only. The shareable link also carries your holidays.
Spreadsheet default (NETWORKDAYS): counts both. Legal deadlines usually exclude the starting day and include the due day.
Pick both dates to see the business days.
Court and contract deadlines have their own rules (local holidays, suspensions, the starting day). This tool does not replace checking the deadline. For Brazilian court deadlines, use the procedural deadline calculator.
