look up case movements by CNJ number DataJud
To check whether a case has moved recently without logging into the court's own system, the CNJ number is enough. The lookup queries the national DataJud database and returns the class, parties and most recent movements in a few seconds, currently covering only the State Courts in its automatic court derivation.
Digits 8 and 26 in the right positions of the number are already enough for the tool to build the correct query.

The tool flags this as a known limitation, not as an invalid number: the number's check digit can still be correct.
The DataJud database gathers metadata from virtually all courts, per CNJ Resolution 331/2020. This tool's automatic court derivation, however, currently covers only State Justice (segment J=8, all 27 state courts); cases from Federal, Labor, and Electoral Justice are not yet resolved automatically here.
Automatic court derivation uses the J (segment) and TR (court) fields of the CNJ number itself, but today it only resolves segment J=8, State Courts, the 27 TJs (CNJ Res. 65/2008, Annex VI). Cases from the Federal, Labor or Electoral Courts have a different segment and are not yet automatically identified by this tool.
The 10 most recent ones returned by the public DataJud API, not the complete case history. To see every movement since the case began, you need to access the court's own system (PJe, eProc, e-SAJ, etc.) directly, with a login or digital certificate as applicable.
Three common reasons: the court has not yet sent that case to DataJud, the case runs under judicial secrecy (and does not appear in the public database), or that court's update is delayed, which can take up to 24 hours depending on the originating court. In these cases, check the court's own system directly.
