powerball ticket cost
A Powerball ticket costs $2 and is always the same size: 5 numbers plus 1 Powerball. Since the U.S. system does not sell an "extended" bet with more numbers per ticket, the math that matters here is different: how much it costs to enter more than one of the 3 weekly draws. The 5 main numbers come from a 69-number drum, and the Powerball comes from a separate 26-number drum.

3 × $2.
The lowest prize tier.
Because marking more numbers is equivalent to playing every possible combination of a simple bet within that group. The number of combinations grows combinatorially, and the price follows.
$2 per ticket, always for 5 numbers drawn from a 1-to-69 drum plus 1 Powerball. There is no pricier version with more numbers on the same ticket.
The extra ball runs from 1 to 26, drawn from a separate drum from the 5 main numbers. Matching only it, with none of the 5 main numbers, already pays a smaller prize.
It costs $6 to repeat the same numbers on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, three times $2; across two weeks, 6 draws, the total rises to $12.
Each $2 ticket carries the same standalone 1 in 292,201,338 chance. Buying more tickets adds attempts, it does not recompute the odds of any single ticket, and the result of one draw has no bearing on the next.
