minecraft gray block palette
The tool opens in Similar mode, starting from gray concrete. Each card shows the real average color of the block and its distance from the starting point; anything below 0.02 is nearly indistinguishable to the naked eye.

The dead corals are gray-beige, not live ones.
A neutral gray #7f7f7f lands on stone.
Basalt and deepslate nearly alike, with noise 6 to 9.
Start with a base block and ask for similar ones: blocks with a close average color (a good rule of thumb is a distance below 0.03 in OKLab) make a cohesive palette. Then add an opposite-color accent with Complementary mode. Use 3 to 5 blocks and prefer textures with similar noise.
Chiseled deepslate and deepslate tiles, which sit less than 0.01 away in OKLab, and mud too. Gray concrete powder is a lighter cousin, though: #4d5155 against #373a3e.
You can, and it is a classic contrast: stone is #7e7e7e and deepslate runs from #4b4b4b to #393939. The gap is large on purpose, so it works as a frame rather than a smooth transition. To soften it, go through an intermediate gray, such as polished andesite.
Gray wool averages #3f4548 with noise 2, and gray concrete #373a3e with noise 0. The color gap is small, but wool has a faint weave and concrete is flat, which shows more up close.

The percentages are our suggestion of how much of each block to use (the 60/30/10 rule), not a game rule.
Average colors of Minecraft Java Edition 26.1 textures. In OKLab, a Δ below 0.02 is barely noticeable.
