Divide the X or Z coordinate by 16 and round down. The position inside the chunk is the coordinate mod 16, from 0 to 15. For example, the block at X 27, Z -15 is in chunk (1, -1) at position (11, 1).
Find the chunk, the region file and the chunk borders for any coordinate, and convert between Overworld and Nether.
Minecraft stores the world in chunks, 16 by 16 blocks wide. In the Overworld a chunk is 384 blocks tall, so it holds 98,304 blocks. The chunk of a block is floor(coordinate / 16) on each axis, and the block's place inside it is the coordinate mod 16. Because the division rounds down, X = -1 is chunk -1, not chunk 0. Chunks are saved in region files named r.x.z.mca, where x and z are floor(chunk / 32). A region holds 32 by 32 chunks, which is 512 by 512 blocks. Knowing the region file tells you which file to copy, back up or delete when you repair a world. The Nether is scaled 1:8 horizontally: Overworld to Nether is floor(X / 8) and Nether to Overworld is X times 8. The tool shows the matching coordinates and the chunk they fall in, plus the area covered by a render or simulation distance of your choice.
