Recipe, duration and command for every Minecraft potion, with the brewing stand steps, an ingredient, blaze powder and time planner, and a Java and Bedrock table.
A potion starts as a water bottle in a brewing stand. Each step uses one ingredient, takes 20 seconds (400 ticks) and processes up to 3 bottles at once. Almost every recipe starts with Nether Wart, which makes an awkward potion, and continues with an effect ingredient: sugar for Speed, ghast tear for Regeneration, magma cream for Fire Resistance. Only Weakness skips the wart, because it comes from fermented spider eye added straight to a water bottle. After the effect come the modifiers. Redstone extends the duration (Speed goes from 3:00 to 8:00), glowstone raises it to level II (1:30 instead of 3:00) and fermented spider eye corrupts the effect: Speed becomes Slowness, Healing becomes Harming, Night Vision becomes Invisibility. Gunpowder makes the potion a splash potion with the same duration, and dragon's breath makes it lingering, at 1/4 of the duration. Eight arrows around a lingering potion make 8 tipped arrows, each with 1/8 of the original duration. The fuel is blaze powder: each powder gives 20 charges, one per step, and a blaze rod makes 2 powders. Every stand has its own gauge, so the planner adds up the leftover of each one. Sixty-four extended splash potions of Speed are 22 batches of 4 steps: 29 min 20 s on one stand and 8 min on 4 stands, using 5 and 6 blaze powder as fuel. Durations are for Java 26.3 (full release of September 15, 2026), and Bedrock shows up where it differs: extended Regeneration and Poison last 1:30 in Java and 2:00 in Bedrock. The Potion of Luck (Java) and the Potion of Decay (Bedrock) cannot be brewed and are left out, and the Potion of Freezing is still in pre-releases.
