ATS resume how to make one
An ATS (applicant tracking system) is the software many employers use to receive, organize and filter applications. A well-structured resume helps that software extract your data without errors. The tool below produces a real-text PDF and checks dates and structure.
2021-03, mar 2021 and March 2021 are also accepted.
It is the date error that most confuses readers and systems.
That is Jan 2019 to May 2020. The tool only warns above 12 months; if you studied or did a project, it is worth listing.
Text. The tool uses browser printing with its own stylesheet for A4 or Letter, so the PDF has selectable, copyable text in system fonts. That helps screening systems read the content, although no format guarantees that a specific system will parse everything correctly.
It depends on the system. Text in simple columns is usually read, but layouts with text boxes, nested tables or images run a higher risk of out-of-order reading. For important applications, the one-column Classic template is the safest choice.
Use the same terms as the posting (tools, certifications, languages) when they are true for you. Do not list skills you do not have: they show up in the interview and cost you credibility.
Follow whatever the posting asks. With no instruction, a real-text PDF is usually read fine by most current systems, but there is no universal guarantee. This tool produces PDF.
No experience yet. If this is your first job, highlight projects, courses and volunteer work.
When marked as current, the period ends in Present.
No education yet.
Level is optional. Prefer skills the posting asks for and that you can demonstrate.
No courses yet.
No certifications yet.
No projects yet. Good for people starting out or changing fields.
