Image size for LinkedIn, Facebook and X

Professional profiles have sizes that change and old guides get them wrong: the LinkedIn company cover, for instance, is now 1512x256 on the official page. Here every number comes with its source, the official or community badge and the check date.

Sizes for the three networks, checked on the help pages

LinkedIn (Help): profile photo from 400x400 up to 7680x4320 pixels, PNG or JPG, up to 8 MB, shown as a circle; profile background photo at 1584x396. For company Pages: logo 400x400 (minimum 268x268), cover 1512x256, Life tab main image 1128x376, company photos 900x600, PNG or JPEG up to 3 MB. For link posts, 1.91:1 ratio (1200x627) and more than 200 pixels wide, otherwise it becomes a thumbnail beside the text.
Facebook (Help and developer documentation): Page profile photo at 320x320, shown as a circle at 176 pixels on computers and 196 on phones; cover with a 400x150 minimum and an ideal upload as an sRGB JPG of 851x315 under 100 KB, shown at 2.4:1 on phones; link and Open Graph image at 1200x630 (1.91:1), minimum 600x315 for the large card and up to 8 MB. X (Help): profile photo 400x400 up to 2 MB and header 1500x500, with a warning that up to 60 pixels at the top and bottom may be cropped.

Worked examples

LinkedIn company cover: old and current

Input: 1128 x 191 e 1512 x 256
Expected output: Mesma proporção, 5,91:1

1128 / 191 = 5.906 and 1512 / 256 = 5.906. Anyone who made the cover at the old size only needs to redo it at 1512x256, 34% larger on each axis, without changing the framing.

X header and the croppable band

Input: 1500 x 500, 60 px em cima e embaixo
Expected output: 380 px de altura garantida (76%)

500 minus 60 minus 60 gives 380 pixels, 76% of the height. Text and logos stay in that central band.

Link image for Facebook and LinkedIn

Input: 1200 x 630 e 1200 x 627
Expected output: 1,905:1 e 1,914:1, ambos ≈ 1,91:1

The two official sizes are practically the same ratio, so a single 1200x630 file works on both networks (and as your site og:image).

What is the ideal image size for the Instagram feed?

Instagram Help accepts photos 320 to 1080 pixels wide with a ratio between 1.91:1 and 4:5, and recommends uploading at least 1080 wide. The 4:5 portrait (1080x1350) takes the most screen and is the tallest allowed. Since 2025 the profile grid shows 3:4 thumbnails, so the sides of a 4:5 may be cropped on the grid.

The personal profile background photo is 1584x396. A company Page cover is 1512x256 according to the current official page. Your profile photo covers part of the bottom-left corner of the background, so avoid text there.

What size are the Facebook cover and profile photo?
