A solar return chart is the chart of the moment the Sun comes back to the longitude it had at your birth. It happens once a year, about a day from your birthday, and astrology reads that chart as the theme of the year until the next birthday. The tool finds the moment by numerical search on the apparent position of the Sun, using the same tropical longitude as the natal chart. The time shows with seconds, but the Sun position comes from a model with an error of a fraction of an arcminute, so trust it to about 1 minute. The moment is the same all over the world, and what changes from city to city is the Ascendant, the Midheaven and the houses. That is why the chart is cast for the place where you will be at that moment, and you can compare up to four cities side by side. In the site example (May 17, 1994, 2:30 PM, São Paulo), the 2026 return falls on May 17, 2026 at 08:22:15 in São Paulo, with the Ascendant at Gemini 19° there and at Leo 17° in Lisbon.
