change song pitch without changing speed
Turn off Pitch follows speed, keep the speed at 1.0x and move the semitones. The song length stays exactly the same, because the tool stretches or shrinks the audio before resampling.
2^(1/12).
D instead of E.
From A to C.
440 × 2^(50/1200).
Length does not change.
Speed (tempo) is how fast the music moves; pitch is how high or low it sounds. On a record or a basic player the two move together. Here you can change one without touching the other: 0.8x with the original pitch makes the song 25% longer without making it deeper, and +3 semitones at the same speed only makes it higher.
Twelve. Going up an octave multiplies the frequency by 2 (+12 semitones), and going down an octave divides it by 2 (−12). The tool accepts from −24 to +24 semitones plus ±100 cents.
Because the method moves the formants together with the pitch, and the ear uses formants to recognize timbre. At +7 or −7 semitones a male voice starts to sound like someone else. The tool does not preserve formants.
Yes. Count the semitones between the original key and the one you want, move the semitone control to that number and use the preview to confirm. To go back to the original, use the same value with the sign flipped.
