Electricity Consumption and Bill Calculator (Brazil)
Add up the appliances in your home, see how many kWh each one uses and what the bill comes to with tariff, tariff flag, ICMS, PIS/COFINS and the public lighting fee. Compare saving scenarios.
From appliance watts to the bottom line of the bill, step by step.
An appliance's monthly consumption in kWh is its power in kW times the hours of use per day times the days in the month. A 5,500 W shower running 30 minutes a day, every day, uses 5.5 x 0.5 x 30 = 82.5 kWh. Appliances with a compressor or thermostat, such as a fridge or an air conditioner, do not draw nameplate power all the time, so each row has a duty factor (fridge around 30%, air conditioner around 60%) and a standby draw. These values are typical and editable; your appliance's label is worth more. The bill starts from the utility's tariff, which adds the TE (energy tariff) and the TUSD (distribution system use tariff), always before taxes. The tariff flag adds an amount per kWh: yellow is R$ 1.885, red level 1 is R$ 4.463 and red level 2 is R$ 7.877 per 100 kWh, while green adds nothing. ICMS and PIS/COFINS then apply "inside the price": the tax is part of the final amount, so the pre-tax value is divided by (1 - PIS/COFINS) x (1 - ICMS). With a R$ 0.80 tariff, 18% ICMS and 5% PIS/COFINS, a kWh costs R$ 0.80 / 0.779 = R$ 1.027, and 200 kWh cost R$ 205.39. The CIP/COSIP, the municipal public lighting contribution, comes after as a fixed amount set by the city. There is also a minimum billed consumption: 30 kWh for single-phase service, 50 kWh for two-phase and 100 kWh for three-phase. Utility tariffs come from ANEEL open data and change at each annual adjustment, so every entry shows its validity period and the homologating resolution. The flag amounts are also set by ANEEL, which announces each month's flag.
How to use
Check the appliances, pick your utility and the month's flag.
Adjust the appliance list: quantity, power in watts, hours per day and days per month. Add others from the typical models list or delete the ones you do not have.
Pick your utility (or type the pre-tax tariff from your bill), the month's tariff flag and, under Taxes and rules, ICMS, PIS/COFINS, the lighting fee and the connection type.
Read the bill total, the appliance ranking and the What if scenario: shorter showers, fewer air conditioner hours, standby cut. Under Check against your real bill, enter the kWh from your invoice.

Multiply its power in kW (watts divided by 1,000) by the hours of use per day and by the days in the month. A 5,500 W shower used 30 minutes a day for 30 days uses 5.5 x 0.5 x 30 = 82.5 kWh. For fridges and air conditioners, also multiply by the duty factor, because the compressor cycles on and off.

Where to find the tariff on my bill
On the invoice, look for the item table with "Tarifa" and TE/TUSD per kWh, or the "Tarifa sem tributos" / "Tarifa com tributos" field. Add TE and TUSD if they are listed separately. Utility tariffs checked in 10/2026.
