minecraft skin steve vs alex classic slim
Steve and Alex use the same 64x64 pixel image, but the game reads the arms in different ways. In the editor, the Model switch changes the character and the map together, and this text shows exactly what changes.
4 pixels wide.
3 pixels wide.
The one column difference already shows here.
The base left arm sits in the lower part of the image.
Alex uses 128 fewer pixels: 64 in each layer.
Pick the model (Steve or Alex), choose a color and paint on the 3D model or the 2D map. Start with the big areas using the bucket, then do the face, clothes and details with the pencil and use mirror so both sides match. Paint hair and accessories on the outer layer. When you are done, download the PNG and upload it in the launcher.
The one that fits the character: Steve for wider arms, Alex for thinner arms. Both work in any world, and you can change the player model in the launcher whenever you like.
They are just the names of the two default skins. The model is a choice of shape, and any player can use either one with whatever look they want.
You can, but the arm appears shifted on one of them. Head, body and legs do not change. For a clean result, keep one file per model.
One finger paints on the model. Two fingers rotate and zoom. With a mouse, click and drag to paint; right button or Shift rotates.
The base layer is always opaque in the game, so the eraser restores the template gray.
