Generate and validate fictitious National Provider Identifiers with the Luhn check digit and 80840 prefix from the CMS spec, in bulk, with export.
The National Provider Identifier (NPI) is the unique identifier for US health care providers, set by the final rule published on January 23, 2004 (69 FR 3434). According to the CMS requirements document, the NPI has 9 numeric digits plus 1 check digit, carries no embedded information and was initially issued with a first digit of 1 or 2. The check digit is the Luhn modulus 10, but calculated as if the NPI were preceded by the prefix 80840, where 80 indicates health applications and 840 indicates the United States. Without the prefix, you get the same result by adding the constant 24. In the official example, 123456789 gives check digit 3: the NPI is 1234567893 and, as the card issuer identifier of a health ID card, 808401234567893. The tool validates against that standard, shows the Luhn arithmetic digit by digit and generates test NPIs in bulk. The first digit does not say whether it is Type 1 (individual) or Type 2 (organization): that classification exists only in the NPPES registry, which you query on the official site, and the tool makes no calls to it.

The first 5 digits (80840) are the constant prefix. Digits in alternating positions are doubled starting next to the last one, and doubles above 9 lose 9. The total must be a multiple of 10.
