dot symbol, bullet point and middle dot to copy
Whoever searches for a "dot symbol" almost always wants one of three distinct characters: the list bullet (•), the middle dot that separates words (·) or a larger circle for decoration (●). They look the same at small font sizes, but have different names, widths and uses. The search below opens filtered by "bullet".
The universal default in text.
Separator for items on one line.
Multiplication in math text.
From largest to smallest; useful for ratings and indicators.
Wider; needs a font with Japanese.
Click the symbol. It is copied to the clipboard and also added to the composition box. Then paste it with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on Mac) into any field. On a phone, tap and hold the field and choose Paste.
• (U+2022) is the list marker, larger and centered; · (U+00B7) is the middle dot, smaller, used as an inline separator. In many fonts the difference is only size, but the codes are different.
Hold Alt and type 0149 on the numeric keypad: you get •. With Alt+0183 you get ·. With no keypad, copy from here or use the Windows Win+. panel.
It is not ideal. Use <ul> and let CSS change the marker with list-style, so the screen reader counts the items. The loose character is for unformatted text.
