how to calculate hours worked with a lunch break
The lunch break is not working time: hours worked are the sum of the periods between clock in and clock out, without the idle time. Type the times in the sheet, even as 0800, and see the day total.
4:00 + 4:00; the lunch hour is left out.
3:55 + 4:45 = 8:40; 40 / 60 = 0.67 hour.
4:30 + 4:30; on an 8:00 schedule that is 1:00 extra.
420 clock minutes x 60 / 52.5 = 480 computed minutes.
For each day, subtract the scheduled hours from the time worked: 9h30 on an 8h schedule gives +1h30, and 7h gives -1h. The time bank is the sum of those balances plus the opening balance. Example: an opening balance of +2:00, one day of 9:30 on an 8:00 schedule (+1:30) and another of 7:15 (-0:45) give 2:00 + 1:30 - 0:45 = +2:45. The tool does this day by day and shows the running balance on each row.
As a rule, no. Rest breaks are not counted in the length of work (CLT art. 71 §2). That is why the tool adds up only the periods between clock in and out.
You can type 08:00, 0800, 800, 8 or 8h30. The field converts to HH:MM when you leave it. Impossible times, like 25:00 or 12:60, are rejected with a warning.
Yes. Turn on Show 2nd break to get six punches in the day. For the minimum break, the longest idle period of the day is used.
