How do I calculate the time bank?

For each day, subtract the scheduled hours from the time worked: 9h30 on an 8h schedule gives +1h30, and 7h gives -1h. The time bank is the sum of those balances plus the opening balance. Example: an opening balance of +2:00, one day of 9:30 on an 8:00 schedule (+1:30) and another of 7:15 (-0:45) give 2:00 + 1:30 - 0:45 = +2:45. The tool does this day by day and shows the running balance on each row.

What is the clock-in tolerance?

CLT art. 58 §1 says variations of up to 5 minutes on each punch are neither deducted nor counted as overtime, capped at 10 minutes per day. If the day total passes 10 minutes, TST Precedent 366 says all the time beyond the schedule counts, not just the excess over the limit. The tool compares the day total with the scheduled hours because it does not know the contract time of each punch: differences up to 10 minutes in a day vanish, and beyond that they count in full. It is an approximation.

How are 50% and 100% overtime separated?

Hours beyond the schedule on a weekday or Saturday count as 50% (art. 59 §1, minimum premium of 50%). Hours worked on a Sunday or national holiday go to 100%, which is how they are usually paid when no compensatory day off is given (Law 605/1949, art. 9, and TST Precedent 146). It is only an informational split: collective agreements may set higher rates, and hours placed in the time bank are not paid as overtime. In 12x36 a holiday is not doubled, because the monthly pay already covers it (art. 59-A).

How long is the time bank valid?

It depends on the agreement. With a written individual agreement, offsetting must happen within 6 months (art. 59 §5). With a collective agreement, within 1 year (art. 59 §2). Offsetting within the same month can rest on a tacit or written individual agreement (§6). The tool counts the deadline from the day each surplus was worked. If the contract ends without full offsetting, the uncompensated overtime is paid (art. 59 §3).

How do the night premium and the reduced hour work?

Urban work between 22:00 and 05:00 pays at least 20% more (art. 73), and the night hour lasts 52 minutes and 30 seconds. Someone working 22:00 to 05:00 does 7 clock hours, which count as 8 computed hours. The tool shows clock hours, computed hours and the reduced-hour gain separately, and can add that gain to the balance. If the shift covers the whole night and continues past 05:00, those hours are also night hours (art. 73 §5 and TST Precedent 60). Rural work has its own hours and rate and is not calculated here.

What is the minimum break during the workday?

Above 6 hours of work, the minimum break is 1 hour and the maximum is 2 hours, unless a written or collective agreement says otherwise (art. 71). Between 4 and 6 hours, the minimum is 15 minutes. If the break is not granted or only partly granted, the missing period is paid with a 50% premium (art. 71 §4). A collective agreement may reduce the break to as little as 30 minutes on workdays over 6 hours (art. 611-A, III). Between one workday and the next, the minimum rest is 11 hours (art. 66).

How do I log a 12x36 schedule?

Choose 12x36 on the Schedule tab, enter a shift day and the hours worked per shift (12h with a 1h break gives 11:00). The tool alternates shifts every two days, including across month ends, and treats the other days as days off. For shifts that run overnight, type the clock-out as a time earlier than the clock-in: 19:00 and 07:00 count as 12h. Under art. 59-A, the monthly pay of a 12x36 already covers weekly rest and holidays and treats night extensions as offset, so the tool does not add the reduced-hour gain to the balance on this schedule, although it appears in the summary.

Can I use it as an official time clock record?

Accepted Answer

No. It is a personal checking tool. The working-hours record the employer must keep (mandatory at establishments with more than 20 workers, art. 74 §2) follows Portaria MTP 671/2021 for the REP, which this tool does not replace. Use the sheet to check your own time statement and to bring questions to HR, your union or a lawyer, never as standalone proof.

Is my data saved? Is it safe?

Times stay only in your browser, month by month, in localStorage, and never go to a server. That is why the sheet reappears when you come back, but only on that device and browser, and clearing site data erases everything. To move the sheet to another device or keep a copy, download the JSON on the Export tab and import it later. The shareable link carries only the schedule and rules, never the times.

Question 10

How do I log a medical note, absence, vacation or bank day off?

Change the day type in the row selector. A medical note excuses the day: it counts as worked time and leaves the balance unchanged. An unexcused absence does not enter the bank: the scheduled time shows as a deduction, and it can affect the paid weekly rest (Law 605/1949, art. 6). A bank day off deducts that day's hours from the balance. Vacation and holidays have no scheduled hours. Half day schedules half of the normal hours, as on a reduced-hours day.
