water eject iphone speaker
Unlike the Apple Watch, the iPhone has no water-eject feature. If yours got wet, start with the steps below. The 165 Hz sound on this page is only an extra attempt for a muffled speaker, with no proven effectiveness.

Waiting longer is safer.

Particles can damage the device.
There is no proof that it does. In our searches no independent test appears measuring how much water leaves with a tone, and the 165 Hz figure looks like an app convention. The mechanism is plausible: the cone vibrates and can push droplets out of the grille, and muffled sound often improves once the water leaves. But that does not dry the inside of the device or repair corrosion.
In the iPhone support pages we read, there is no such function. The Apple Watch has it, playing a series of tones when you turn Water Lock off. On the iPhone, the recommendation is to unplug, drain and let it dry.
Only in an emergency, because Apple warns that charging while wet can cause corrosion. The best is to wait at least 30 minutes and let it dry with air around it. If you must charge, a wireless charger helps once the back is dry.
Somewhat. Water resistance has depth and time limits set for each model and is not permanent, and liquid damage is not covered by the warranty. Check your device rating on Apple's specifications page and dry it the same way.
