Steam Market Fee Calculator

The math Steam does, with every rounding step explained.

When you sell an item on the Community Market, Steam adds two fees on top of the amount you want to receive: the 5% Steam Transaction Fee and the game fee, which is 10% by default in Steam's own script. The buyer pays them, but they come out of your price: if you want to receive 1.00 the buyer sees 1.15, and the slice that never reaches you is 13.04% of their price, not 15%. Each fee is computed separately, rounded down to whole cents and never drops below 1 cent. That is why cheap items lose a huge share: receiving 0.01 requires the buyer to pay 0.03, and 66.67% of the price becomes fees. From 0.10 to 0.19 the math is identical, 1 cent to Steam and 1 cent to the game, and only from 0.20 does the game fee reach 2 cents. This calculator reproduces Valve's front-end functions (ToValidMarketPrice, CalculateFee, GetTotalWithFees and GetItemPriceFromTotal) in whole cents. In 'I want to receive X' it adds the fees to your amount. In 'Buyer pays Y' it runs the same search as Steam's listing dialog: it starts from a guess and adjusts, which is why some buyer prices do not exist. At 20.00, for example, Steam lists 19.98 and you receive 17.39, because 17.40 would already push the buyer to 20.01. The price table shows those gaps, the bulk list adds up fees and profit across dozens of items, and the profit panel gives the break-even price after you buy. The money lands in your Steam Wallet and can only be spent inside Steam. The game fee can differ per title and change over time, and the minimums for each currency were not confirmed, so everything is adjustable and Steam's listing dialog has the final word. Pick the direction and type the amount.

1. In 'I want to receive X', type the net amount you want in your wallet. The calculator shows the buyer's price, both fees and the total slice taken from the price.
2. In 'Buyer pays Y', type the price you see on the Market. You get what you receive and a warning when that price does not exist on Steam.
3. Use the Price table for the cent-by-cent scale, the Bulk list to total several items and the profit panel to find the break-even price of a purchase.
